Collective Leisure Pitches at Pitch for Good Parramatta to Launch Weekly Sportability Club for Children with Disabilities
Collective Leisure was one of five organisations to pitch at the innovative Pitch for Good Parramatta event. Organized by the City of Parramatta and Start Some Good, the initiative aims to empower not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises by helping them generate awareness and secure funding for their impactful projects.
David Burns, CEO of Collective Leisure, delivered a pitch to create a Weekly Sportability Club for children with disabilities in Parramatta. At the event, we also launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $20,000, which will support 20 families by providing their children with a safe and inclusive space to thrive and belong.
During his pitch, David shared personal insights about how sport had served as his solace, helping him overcome challenges in his youth, including navigating life in Germany as a child who did not speak the language. He emphasized the vital need for a weekly program where children can engage in fun, skill-building activities that develop their physical literacy, foster friendships, and improve their well-being.
The new Sportability Club is set to launch in Ermington, Parramatta, in February 2025. Delivered by Collective Leisure's trained sports coaches from refugee backgrounds, the program will create a positive, inclusive environment for children to grow and connect through sport.
This initiative builds on the success of the Adult Sportability Club in Dundas, Parramatta, establishing a pathway for children, young people, and adults.
We would love your support to help us achieve our crowdfunding goal and make the club a reality.
