Liverpool Seniors Well-being and Social Group launching 23 May 2023

Participants and partners at our co-design session

This May we are delighted to launch our Liverpool Seniors Well-being and Social Group at Lurnea Community Hub on behalf of Liverpool City Council.

The program aims to reduce social isolation for seniors and improve their well-being. We are bringing together the expertise of South Western Sydney Local Health District, Council of the Ageing NSW and Healthstin to deliver an engaging program that takes into account the needs of local residents.

In April 2023 we ran a co-design session with the local community and the program has been developed based on their suggestions. The program will run thrice weekly from Tuesday to Thursday between 10:00am-12:00noon with a break for school holidays.

Each month will feature a range of programs and the overarching theme will be drawn from the Local Health Districts 5 Ways to Well-being and Collective Leisure’s Wheel of Well-being. Each week Healthstin will deliver a light exercise session tailored to participants by an exercise physiologist. Planned activities include cooking classes, yoga, tai chi, art classes and guest speakers.

The pilot program will run for six months and is totally FREE for participants. Light refreshments are provided at the end of each session. If you know anyone in the local community who would benefit, please encourage them to join in this wonderful program.
